Arthrocentesis in Pompano Beach & Coral Springs

Arthrocentesis is a minimally invasive TMJ procedure used to irrigate the jaw joint and help reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and relieve certain types of joint-related pain. It may be recommended for patients experiencing symptoms such as painful or limited jaw movement, inflammation, or episodes of locking related to the temporomandibular joint.

At South Florida Institute of Oral Surgery, arthrocentesis is recommended only after a detailed evaluation of the patient’s symptoms, jaw function, and joint anatomy. Because TMJ disorders can have many different causes, determining whether the problem originates within the joint is an important part of treatment planning.

For appropriately selected patients, arthrocentesis can provide a less invasive treatment option before more advanced joint surgery is considered. Our goal is to relieve discomfort, restore movement, and help patients return to more comfortable everyday jaw function.
